What to Expect
At Desert Hills Baptist Church, we have a saying, “There's a Place For You.” The church is not a place you go to, it’s a family you belong to.
What you can expect from a visit to Desert Hills Baptist Church is to be treated like family. Whether you are a single or senior,
a child or youth, married or single, there is a place for you in the DHBC family.
We know it's not easy to visit a new church for the first time. Sometimes you feel like you're on show, or you are the only one that
doesn't know everyone. You have questions like "Do I belong here?" or "How should I dress?" We hope that this page will answer your questions,
but if it doesn't, contact us, and we'll be happy to answer them.
Here are some frequently asked questions and answers:
“What should I wear?” Well, in the DHBC family, we are more interested in who you are than what you wear. But a simple guideline is:
dress comfortably. On Sunday mornings, some people prefer to wear coats and ties or dresses; others prefer more casually attire with sports shirts,
slacks or jeans. Both are perfectly acceptable. And - at our Wednesday evening services, you’ll rarely find a coat and tie.
“How do I get there?” Desert Hills Baptist Church is located at 4401 South Nellis Blvd between Boulder Hwy. and East Harmon Ave. Get Directions.
“Where do I park?” When you arrive and pull into the parking lot at DHBC, you'll see that there is ample parking available and there are
spots at the front of the building marked "Visitor Parking". We've designated these spots just for you! If someone happens to be in "your spots"
you're welcome to park anywhere on our lot. We also have spaces marked to meet your limited mobility or handicap parking needs.
“How can I find my way around?” As you come through the front doors, you'll be greeted by a few friendly people who are there to say hello,
answer any questions you have, and assist you in getting where you want to go. They'll also hand you a copy of our weekly worship bulletin
Acts 20/20 Vision, which has the week's announcements, activities and happenings at Desert Hills!
Our greeters and Information Center are there for you, our guests so feel free to ask them for help getting your children to the correct place,
finding a class, or finding a place to sit.
“What about my children?” Again, you can expect us to treat your children like family. All of the children’s workers at DHBC have been
selected for their love for God and for children. We strive to maintain a warm and secure environment for all our preschool and gradeschool children.
All families are asked to register their children at the welcome station in our preschool and children’s wing where you will be given a security number.
Please show an adult worker the secutrity number when picking up your child. Your security number will be dispalyed on the reader board located
in the worship center in case of an emaergency. We have many choices for children concerning Sunday School, Worship and other activities -
IMPORTANT NOTE: We encourage you to take advantage of our wonderful nursery for infants and toddlers during all worship services.
“What is your worship service like?” We understand that people are different and we try to include something in our service that will
help everyone connect with God. Our services are mixed with both traditional and contemporary music with the praise team, singers and musicians
(using piano, keyboard, strings, wind and drums).
We know that you will find that the worship service fits your needs. We want you to know that you and your family will walk away from Desert Hills
glad you came and better because of it. No matter your situation in life, you'll know that DHBC is a place you can belong.
“Practical Bible Preaching and Bible Teaching” Pastor Hocker's messages are backed by the truth of God's word and never lack passion.
When you visit DHBC, you can expect to hear God's message communicated in a way that is both practical and relevant to our daily lives.
Messages are also available on CD and tape so you can review them at home or in your car.
Likewise, our Sunday School classes are there to help you apply these practical and useful biblical truths to your lives.
“What do you believe?” Desert Hills Baptist Church is a congregation of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus is God’s only Son
and the way to abundant life on earth and eternal life in heaven. We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired and perfect revelation to us in
written form and is to be both studied and lived out in daily life. At DHBC we believe the New Testament Church best describes who we are.
The New Testament Church has five prioritized purposes: Worship, Evangelism, Discipleship, Ministry and Membership. Dimensions of
Church Growth are: Churches grow stronger through Worship, Chruches grow larger through Evangelism, Churches grow deeper through
Discipleship and Churches grow broader through Ministry. For a summary version of our beliefs, please visit What We Believe on this site.
We are affiliated nationally with the Southern Baptist Convention and in our state with the Nevada Southern Baptist Convention.
